Looking forward to meeting Colin Ross
A German-language newspaper published in South Australia announces Colin Ross’s imminent arrival.
Strikingly, this short item in a newspaper published in Tanunda, South Australia, does not bother to introduce Ross as a travel writer and filmmaker. Familiarity with the name seems implied. As in many other notes on his arrival, Ross’s planned route is sketched out. The hope of the “German colonies” in South Australia to meet Ross and his family soon was not misplaced: during his stay in Adelaide for some weeks after his arrival Ross documented his visits to the nearby Auslandsdeutsche villages both in his filmmaking and writing (see: “Germany means religion, soul, god” and Infighting among Lutherans in Australia).
